Piriformis Stretch

If you ever encounter numbness or tingling in the region of your buttocks or down the backs of your legs, then you might be encountering piriformis syndrome, and that’s what the piriformis stretch can help to alleviate.

Your piriformis is a pear-shaped muscle that runs from your lower spine to the top of each thighbone. It plays an important role in walking and your ability to rotate your leg and foot outward.

Sometimes the periformis can create pressure along the sciatic nerve, and it’s this pressure can causes the numbness and tingling.

Here’s a simple stretch that can help to alleviate some of the discomfort:

Take the stretch gently and as always, never push past your comfort level.
