When hibernation’s not an option

What do you need to be healthy during the winter? – A good night’s sleep, a well balanced meal, and appropriate exercise.

Most mammals hibernate during these winter months, and due to the absence of the abundance of food supplies, eat less.

Rest is an important contributor to longevity of mind body and spirit. In order to be healthy our entire lives we must honor our body’s need to rest.

Put down your electronic devices, TV, cell phones, computers, radios, and sit down and try to mediate or go for a walk. Try going to bed an hour earlier.

In the beginning these might be difficult for you. Many of us have become used to being a human doing rather than a human being. Out constant need to be active and not honor our body’s need to rest can lower immune function, making us prone to premature ageing and unnecessary health issues.

It’s better to rest because our body needs it, than to rest because we are ill and haven’t listened to our body’s needs.
