It’s important to obtain an accurate diagnosis for what is causing your shoulder pain. Once we have identified the precise injury, treatment can begin:
Rest
Rest is an old-fashioned and highly effective cure for some shoulder injuries. This allows the inflammation to subside and the body to start its natural healing.
A little caution should be exercised when resting the joint though because while the right amount will help your recovery, too much can contribute to a loss of mobility. For that reason your treatment is also likely to include a simple stretching regime.
Stretching and Exercise
Gently stretching the tendons of the shoulder and a course of rehabilitation exercises will gradually restore muscle flexibility. It’s essential however that these exercises are carefully chosen as a part of your treatment plan. As with rest, too little will not have the desired effect while too much or too drastic an exercise will cause further damage.
We will work with you to identify the perfect blend for your recovery.
Ice and Heat
Depending on the nature of your injury, we may also recommend the use of either heat pads or ice packs to provide extra relief.
