Myofascial pain is caused when sensitive areas in your muscles, known as ‘trigger points’ cause pain to appear in different parts of your body. What makes this pain different from more usual aches is that whereas the ache we might encounter from exercise will rapidly wear-off, the ache of myofascial pain persists.
Typical symptoms might include:
- Sensitive knots in muscles
- Aching and persistent pain in muscles
Myofascial pain is also closely related to the development of fibromyalgia and sleep disorders.
